November 24: English Idyll performed by The Risingholme Orchestra
Chris's orchestra piece English Idyll will be premiered on 10th November by Christchurch's Risingholme Orchestra as part of their 'Musical Tour of the British Isles'.
October 24: Commissions for Choir and Saxophone + Organ duo
Chris' has been commissioned by Jeremy Woodside and Knox Church to write a new piece for their service of Nine Lessons and Carols.
Chris is working on a new piece for organ and soprano to be premiered in 2025 by James Burt and Jeremy Woodside
July 2024: Performance of 'O Dayspring' at Christ Church Cathedral, Christchurch
Chris's O Dayspring for upper voices and organ will be performed on 5th September by The Girl Choristers of Christ Church Cathedral, under Kimberley Wood.
May 2024: Commission from The Jubilate Singers
The Jubilate Singers have commissioned a new choral work for their November 2024 programme 'Love and War'.
April 2024: The London Festival Of Contemporary Church Music
The London Festival Of Contemporary Church Music (LFCCM) have included Chris's setting of Ubi Caritas in their festival programme. It will performed on 18th of May by the LFCCM Singers, conducted by Alastair Carey.
April 2024: Commission from The Risingholme Orchestra
The Risingholm Orchestra have commissioned a new short orchestral work for inclusion of a November programme of music by UK composers.
March 2024: New Song Cycle for 'New Music On The Bayou', Louisiana
Chris's song cycle Three O'Sullivan Settings will be premiered by Claire Vangelisti (soprano) and Rick Seiler (piano) on 8th June in Monroe, Louisiana. This piece was commissioned by New Music On The Bayou as part of the 'Black Bayou Composition Prize' which Chris was awarded in 2023.
November 2023: Recording with The Jubilate Singers
Chris's settings of Ubi Caritas and The Virgin's Cradle Hymn to be recorded by The Jubilate Singers, Christchurch, conducted by Philip Norman.
October 2023: Artist-in-residence at Yaddo, NY
Chris has been awarded a three-week composition residency with the prestigious Yaddo Foundation (Saratoga Springs, NY).
June 2023: Black Bayou Composition Prize
Chris's chamber work Brightening Band for large ensemble was premiered on 4th June at New Music On The Bayou, Louisiana and was awarded the Black Bayou Composition Prize.
May 2023: New Zealand Association of Artist Doctors
Chris's arrangement of Wild Mountain Thyme, commissioned by Dr Bevan Rogers for the Artist Doctors' Choir, will receive its premiere on 13th May at the NZ Artist Doctors Concert and Exhibition
February 2023: '50 for 50 Global Composers Project'
Chris was selected for participation in Paul Kopetz '50 for 50 Global Composers Project'. 50 composers from around the world were selected to write a short 60 second self-portrait for Bb clarinet, viola, and piano. These pieces will be stitched together by composer Paul Kopetz and the resulting collage will be performed in Australia, The Netherlands, and The USA at the end of 2023.
